Department of Economics at Giresun University
About Us:
The Department of Economics at Giresun University offers both undergraduate (BA) and graduate (MA and Ph.D.) degrees in economics as well as a non-thesis Master’s degree. There are four research subfields in the department: Economic Policy, Economic Theory, Economic History, and Economic Development, and International Economics.
The aim of the undergraduate program of the Department of Economics is to provide a sound theoretical basis in economic theory, public finance, corporate law, and econometrics. Successful completion of the program will prepare students to work successfully in private and public sectors with an understanding of basic economic concepts and developed analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The Bachelor of Art (BA) in economics prepares students for a wide range of careers as an economist in private and public institutions such as the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Turkish Statistical Institute, Industrial and Trade Chambers, Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, etc.
The graduate program provides highly demanded skills in economic analysis and policy for students seeking jobs in the public or private sector. The modern analytical and quantitative skills acquired in the graduate program enables students to conduct independent research on specialized topics in economics and prepares students for professional careers in the public and private sector.
